After graduating in 1974 with his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Queensland Medical School, Dr David De Leacy completed his Fellowship at the Royal Brisbane and Princess Alexandra Hospitals in 1988. He has a broad background in general medicine, immune-haematology, cytogenetics, general haematology, transfusion medicine and senior medical management.
Dr De Leacy has had an interesting career, travelling extensively with different roles in Australia, the UK, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam (WHO), New Zealand and Antarctica. As a senior transfusion consultant, Dr De Leacy was closely involved in the development of safe practice associated with that subspecialty throughout the world and was an examiner in the subject for the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia. Dr De Leacy has been a Consultant Haematologist with QML since 2008 and has extensive current experience in general laboratory diagnostic haematology with special interests in immuno-haematology (surface markers), immunology and bone marrow transplantation.
