Biography
Dr. Banumathy Banuthevan completed his undergraduate studies in 1998 in University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. He completed postgraduate pathology training in 2005 and obtained MD qualifications. After moving to Australia in 2005, Dr. Banuthevan underwent further Pathology training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Wollongong Hospital and Prince Wales Hospital in Sydney. He additionally obtained a fellowship from Royal College of Pathologists Australasia (FRCPA) in 2010.
Dr. Banuthevan has broad expertise in performing fine needle aspiration in palpable lesions, intraoperative consultations, i.e. Frozen section, cancer diagnosis and management for gastrointestinal and breast cancers, as well as interpretation of cytology specimens including EUS/EBUS samples.
He joined Laverty team of pathologists in 2024.
