The Mantoux test is a skin test used to detect tuberculosis (TB) infection by injecting a small amount of tuberculin under the skin and measuring the reaction 48-72 hours later.
This is a special test which requires two separate appointments.
The first appointment involves a doctor or a registered nurse administering a tuberculin injection. The doctor/registered nurse will advise on location to return for the second appointment
The second appointment is required for the Mantoux Reading. This reading must be performed within 48 – 72 hours post tuberculin injection, otherwise the test will need to be repeated.
The reading is only performed at select locations.
